HEAVY DUTY FLAILS
The RHD flail mower is designed and constructed based on what we have learned from building flail mowers for over 50 years.
Featuring a 62”, 74”, 88”, or 96” cut, RHD flail mowers deliver a clean cut, safe operation, and dependable service. The super heavy-duty series is designed for 540 RPM tractors from 25-70 HP. The vertical action of the free-swinging and self-cleaning knives slice through the grass turning the clippings into a fine mulch for faster decomposition and quicker nutrient return to the soil. The specially-designed hood means even distribution of cut material across the full width of the mower and that thrown objects are deflected downward instead of out for a clean finish and safer operation. The 6” diameter rear roller maintains the cutting height and helps to keep material from being thrown from underneath the mower. The 4-1/2” cuttershafts are balanced to help ensure vibration-free operation and the heavy-duty construction of the mainframe helps to deliver years of dependable service. All driveshafts and belts are fully shielded for greater safety. Over 50 years of flail mower building expertise, a clean, manicured cut, safe operation, and dependable service make a Rhino® flail mower your best choice.
The RHD series features replaceable steel “ bumper guards” on both ends as standard equipment to help protect the drive components and shielding from damage in case an obstacle is hit. Greasable, self aligning cuttershaft bearings provide long service life. The RHD series also features bolt-on replaceable skid shoes for easy and quick repair. The rear roller is adjustable to set and help maintain the cutting heights ranging from 1” to 6”. These flails use a “C” size Kevlar® V-Belt to drive the rotorshafts for years of service.
A choice of fine cut (L) or coarse cut knives (R) are available to accomplish a wide range of applications. The coarse cut knives are designed for use in “rocky or trashy” areas where side to side deflection helps reduce the risk of knife breakage. The fine cut shaft has approximately twice as many blades for an extremely clean cut. The mainframes are built symmetrical, allowing the drive mechanism to be repositioned to reverse the rotation of the blades. A forward rotation is best for mowing taller grasses and reverse rotation is best for mowing and mulching shorter grasses.
